Saying goodbye to the greatest person I know is so hard. My dad meant everything to me and was a guiding light throuout my life . Imagine at my age to feel so lost because my dad isn’t here to turn to and celebrate every holiday, special occasion or just my day to day happenings with Jimmy and my kids.
He is truly the patriarch of our family . Growing up his commute to work to NYC was by train or in traffic by car and added to his long day but he always came home with a smile and ready to listen about our day. He told me once he hung his troubles from the day on the lilac bush outside when he got home. In the morning he would pick them up , but made sure to spend the night with his family. He showed up and was always there when we needed him. He taught me many things….how to ice skate, tips on field Hockey, ride a bike, ski, and most importantly how to love and have faith in God. His love for God was strong and unbreakable. He would say “it’s not our place to ask why . It’s all part of his plan so have faith “. Now i turn to God to help me navigate this loss , since the man who helped me always get through life is gone. I called my dad a lot through college and then when I moved to Virginia he would always say “be strong and remember your faith “. Seeing my dad become a PaPa was like watching the best parts of my life all over again. His love, dedication and pride was incredible. Once again he was always there, always positive , always loving big. Having my family live in Virginia didn’t matter. He was always there to be with Gregory, Bradley and Kristina. Always reading to them, outside playing with them, cheering them on, singing with them and loving them. I could see a part of him in each of them and I’m beyond grateful. I will always keep him close to my heart and mind and in all I do . He said he was the richest man in the world because of all of us but truthfully we are the Rich ones because of him . Keep guiding us dad becAuS we will always need you .We love you kiss kiss Veronica

From the memories I have when I was only able to crawl to 17 years later, a huge part of my life you have been around. Babysitting me and growing up teaching me the best lessons to be kind, honest and faithful. Watching Fantasia, singing our own songs we had together, visiting you with the time I had, the memories will never be taken for granted. With your one-liners and great story telling, you have never failed to make everyone in a room smile and be the biggest role model to your children and grandchildren. Only wanting the best from people, anyone that met you can consider themselves blessed. Now the family you have raised has come together closer than ever and could not be any happier to know you are looking over everyone. You are the richest man in the world and as they say the good die young, continue singing and dancing while looking over us.

My Papa. The man who showed us all the way. The way to live a life that’s full. Putting family and faith first… My Papa, Ronald Pasquale Balzano, drove down to Virginia 2-3 times a month for most of my life to visit his grandchildren, watch our games, our plays, read us to bed, throw the baseball with us, and my favorite, sing with us. He introduced me to Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, and my favorite singer, Ronald Balzano himself, who had a voice that could get confused with any one of them. Family events won’t be the same without him, but being with family makes it a little better, as I see so much of him in all of us. He was a man that others aspire to be, to live a life with character, love, faith, song. He always said, with this family around, he was the richest man in the world… We were the rich ones. We were the ones so blessed to be able to know and be loved by a man who gave us all the world. Through him I have learned all the important things about family, love, God, compassion and integrity. In this forever changing world he was always the one that any friend or family could always look up to. He was a man who worked hard, struggled, failed, and succeeded in life, all for his family. All that knew him, loved him. And that speaks volumes. You will be incredibly missed Papa, but our memories will never fade, and you will live on through all of us. This family you have built will make you proud. Make sure you get your practice in with Frank and Bobby, as I will want to hear what you have all been cooking up when we meet again. I love you so much Papa. Thank you for everything ❤️

The best man there ever was. Thank you for teaching me everything except how to live without you. These past few days have been some of hardest knowing you are no longer with us, but the family you built has the ability to get through anything all thanks to you. To our beach trip when you made me come on stage in front of so many people to sing Frank Sinatra, even though I was terrified, you made it feel as if it was nothing. You were a true celebrity. From all the soccer games, swim meets, high school concerts, and award ceremonies, you were always the number one supporter to your grandchildren. A man that showed his love through showing up. Your love for omi was immense. The love you dream and pray about. 61 years of showing everyone all around you what the word “love” truly means. There are so many more memories that I can write about. But for those, I will just carry with me forever. I hope you get to watch every Giants and Yankees… and Redskins games from Heaven;) Sing a few songs with Sinatra for me. I’ll see you later. Save me a seat in the front row.

More than anything else, my Uncle Ronnie absolutely radiated a kind of friendly classiness; a classy guy, sharp, friendly, and the kind of person anyone would be eager to know as a friend or relative. At those occasions when we all got together, we'd wait for the highlight of our gathering . . . when he would step up to the microphone and belt out "Mack the Knife" . . . as good as Bobby Darin himself.
Uncle Ron and Aunt Irma were married for not quite 62 years. When I was a young boy I would visit them whenever a noteworthy astronomical event was to take place, because there was a time when his hometown of Mahopac, NY routinely boasted very dark, starry night skies, nearly the equivalent of what you'd find now in the Desert Southwest.
Together we observed many celestial sights, including the annual summer performance of the Perseid Meteor Shower, and in March 1976 we both watched in awe as Comet West with several narrow gas tails and a brilliant dust tail spanning over 25 degrees rose above the nearby town of Brewster.
To me he was more like a big brother than an uncle.
RIP Uncle Ron. Always my shining star.

So many memories ... two come immediately to mind. The first memory is of valentines, since yesterday was Valentine's Day. My Uncle Ronnie would almost always come to visit me and my mom (his sister) on Valentine's Day with a rose for each of us. Sometimes he would even send us Valentine cards in the mail. He never wanted us not to have valentines on Valentines Day. The other memory is of baseball, which we both loved. Unfortunately my Uncle was a die-hard Yankee fan, and I'm a Met fan! He would always tease me, "Lisa, you would be perfect, if only you were a Yankee fan!" I have a little terrace off of my apartment. When the Yankees beat the Mets in the World Series, the first call the next morning was from my Uncle: "I just wanted to make sure you were okay and didn't jump off your beautiful terrace." And lastly, I will always remember how much he and my mother (his sister) adored each other. One day in December my mom was weak and lethargic when my Uncle called. He called back the very next day and told my mom he would not get off the phone until she sang, "I've Got a Crush on You," with him. And she did, she sang the entire song! Ronnie said (to me) "Okay, now I feel better. I was worrying about her all last night." My mom passed last month on January 18th. I have NO DOUBT she was there this week, waiting eagerly to greet her beloved baby brother in the great beyond. I am sure the reunion was joyous, and my Uncle has been busy serranading everyone in heaven with Sinatra and Bobby Darin tunes. I will love you forever, Uncle Ronnie! xoxoxo

Thank you Papa for always being there for all of us. Thank you for surprising me by making the drive to see me get sworn in to the Yonkers Police Department even though I know you weren’t feeling your best. I know you were a big supporter of law enforcement and the military and was always proud of me being a part of both. A true patriot! I will be forever grateful that you were in my life and there is no doubt in my mind that you will look down upon us and protect and guide us until we meet again. I’ll keep a song in my heart just for you
Love,
Theresa

With so many great memories he left us to treasure, the one I hold close is when I asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage. After giving me the blessing he told me there’s a no return policy.
Love the guy!!!
